Local history

The last inhabitants at Oppstuggu Berbu donated the property to Orkdal Historical Society, who contributed to the establishment of the Orkdal Bygdetun foundation.

Oppstuggu is preserved as it was in the 1950-ties. It is in itself a piece of local history, offering a taste of what life was like at a small farm in those days. You will experience a charming mixture of old traditional furniture and embroidered table cloths and the electric equipment and formica that were state of the art in the fifties. The Orkdal branch of The Norwegian Women’s Public Health Association has a historic collection at the Sivertsen farm. The theme is “100 years of public health and hospital management”.
